1. Accepting these terms
SmashDrop is a product of Axilerate Technologies ("SmashDrop", "we", "us"), Mahadevpura, Bangalore 560016, India. By creating an account or using the app or this website you agree to these terms. If you do not, do not use the app.
You must be 18 or over to hold an account.
Our privacy policy forms part of this agreement.
2. What SmashDrop is — and is not
SmashDrop introduces badminton players to each other, to coaches, to academies, to tournaments and to second-hand kit. It keeps a record of the matches you and your opponents confirm.
SmashDrop is not a party to anything that follows an introduction. In particular:
- We do not organise, umpire, supervise or insure any match.
- We do not employ, vet, certify or supervise coaches or academies, and a listing is not an endorsement.
- We do not run tournaments. Organisers do, and they are responsible for them.
- We take no payment for gear, hold no money, ship nothing, and are not a party to any sale.
- We do not book, own or hire courts.
3. Your account
- One account per person. Signing in is by one-time password to your phone number — keep access to that number secure, because whoever has it can sign in as you.
- Give accurate information. Impersonating somebody else, or misrepresenting your gender to reach the women's section, is a serious breach and will end your account.
- An account may carry any combination of plays and coaches, or be an academy. You may change these; changing them changes what you can do and what you are charged.
- You are responsible for everything done through your account.
4. Pro, the trial and billing
The trial. Every account gets seven days from the date it was created with every feature enabled. It is measured from your account's creation date, once, and cannot be restarted by signing out, deleting the app or creating a second account.
The subscription. After the trial, accounts that play need SmashDrop Pro — ₹119 per month — for: running a tournament, opening and running a live scoreboard, the leaderboard, tournament standings and pool tables, booking coaching sessions, making offers on gear, and the full filtered directory.
What remains free, permanently: sending and accepting challenges, forming buddy pairs and squads and playing other pairs, entering and playing tournaments, reporting and confirming results, your profile, rank, hours, verified skills and shuttle points, watching anybody's live scoreboard, browsing players, coaches, academies and gear, listing your own gear and answering offers on it, booking courts and stringing, and everything a coaching or academy account does.
Coaching and academy accounts are free and we intend to keep them that way. An account that both plays and coaches pays for the playing half.
Billing. Pro is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payment is taken by them, under their terms. It renews each month until cancelled, and is cancelled in your store account — not by us and not by deleting the app. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the period you have paid for runs to its end.
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. We cannot issue a refund for a store purchase.
Prices may change. We will give at least 30 days' notice in the app before a change affects you, and the stores will ask you to approve any increase.
Shuttle points. A month of Pro can be claimed for 10,000 shuttle points and is added to your account immediately, extending any subscription you already have.
5. Matches and results
- A score is entered by one player and confirmed by another. In doubles the confirmation must come from the opposing side.
- The winner comes from the games entered, never chosen. A match level on games is a draw. It counts as played for both and awards neither a win.
- A match becomes live when somebody presses Start now. A match nobody started did not happen.
- Do not report results for matches that did not take place. Inventing results, colluding to inflate a record, or arranging matches solely to farm rank or points is a breach of these terms.
- In a tournament, the organiser's word settles a result on its own. They are a third party with nothing to gain either way.
- A live scoreboard is a record of taps, not an official result. Whoever opened it is the scorer, and a match still settles the ordinary way — reported and confirmed, or recorded by an organiser. Anybody who can see the match can watch the scoreboard, whether or not they subscribe.
6. Rank, skills and shuttle points
Rank is worked out, not awarded. It comes from confirmed matches, hours, wins, win rate and verified skills, every time it is read. It can go down, because win rate can fall. Your rank is where you stand today, not a promise.
Skill verification is a judgement by other people, either a coach or six opponents. It is their opinion of what they saw, not a certificate from us, and we do not guarantee it is right. A coach cannot verify their own claim, and a rejection must give a reason.
Shuttle points have no cash value. They cannot be bought, sold, transferred or exchanged for money, and they are not your property. We may adjust or remove points obtained through invented results, collusion or any other abuse. Reward availability and prices may change; the cost of a reward is fixed at the moment you claim it. Physical rewards are posted within India only, to an address you supply, and are subject to stock. If we cannot supply a reward you have claimed, we will return the points.
7. Coaches and academies
- Publish only sessions you can actually deliver, at the times and prices stated.
- You are responsible for your qualifications, insurance, safeguarding, tax and any licences your local law requires. We do not check them.
- Money for a session is between you and the player. SmashDrop does not process it and takes no commission.
- An academy is responsible for the coaches it adds to its roster.
- Reviewing skill claims is a responsibility, not a favour. Review honestly, or not at all.
8. Tournaments
- Anyone with SmashDrop Pro may organise one. The organiser is solely responsible for the venue, the entry fee, the schedule, safety, prizes, and anything they promise entrants.
- Entry is a request, not a booking, and it is free. An organiser may accept or decline it. Reading a tournament's standings and pool tables requires Pro; entering and playing does not.
- Entry fees, where charged, are collected by the organiser directly. SmashDrop does not handle them and cannot refund them.
- Only a woman may create a women-only tournament.
- If you organise a tournament, disputes with your entrants are yours to resolve.
9. Gear
Gear is a noticeboard. Two people meet and settle it between themselves.
- Badminton equipment only. At least one photo is required, and nothing is published until the photos have been reviewed. Where the photos and the description disagree, the photos decide. Replacing photos sends a listing back for review.
- List only items you own and are entitled to sell or give away. Describe faults honestly. No counterfeits.
- An accepted offer releases each party's phone number to the other. Before that moment neither of you can contact the other through SmashDrop.
- Accepting an offer reserves the item and declines the others. The amount is fixed once answered.
- We are not the seller. We give no warranty about any item, its condition, its authenticity, or whether either person turns up. Payment, collection and any dispute are entirely between the two of you.
- Making an offer requires Pro. Listing, and answering offers on your own listings, does not.
10. The women's section
The women's section is available to users who declare their gender as woman and opt into being listed. Misrepresenting your gender to gain access is a serious breach and will result in permanent removal. We may also report conduct there to the police where a law has been broken.
We are candid about the limit of this: access is self-declared today. Use the same judgement you would anywhere else, and tell us at support@smashdrop.com if something is wrong.
11. Conduct
Do not:
- Harass, threaten, stalk or abuse anybody, on the app or after meeting through it.
- Post anything unlawful, obscene, hateful, or that infringes somebody else's rights.
- Upload a photograph or video of another person without their agreement.
- Invent match results, collude over them, or manufacture skill votes.
- Use the directory to collect people's details, advertise, or recruit for anything else.
- Scrape the app, reverse-engineer it, or attempt to bypass its access rules.
- Create a second account to restart a trial or evade a suspension.
12. Your content
Anything you upload stays yours. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and distribute it inside SmashDrop for the purpose of running the service — showing your listing on the board, your video to a reviewer, your photo in the directory. That licence ends when you delete the content, save for copies retained in backups for a limited period.
You confirm you have the right to upload what you upload. We may remove content that breaks these terms.
13. Meeting people
SmashDrop introduces strangers to each other. Please take that seriously.
- Meet at a court or another public place, especially the first time.
- Tell somebody where you are going.
- Inspect an item before you pay for it. Do not send money in advance.
- Trust your judgement and leave if something feels wrong.
We do not conduct background checks on anybody, and cannot be responsible for how a person behaves once you have met.
14. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and will normally tell you why. Serious breaches — impersonation, misrepresenting gender to reach the women's section, harassment, fraud — may result in immediate permanent removal.
You may close your account at any time from You → Account → Delete account. Closing it does not refund an unused part of a subscription month; cancel in the store as well if you are subscribed.
15. Liability
SmashDrop is provided "as is". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular person will be available to play, coach or sell you anything.
To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for: injury or loss arising from a match, a session or a meeting arranged through the app; any dispute between users; the conduct, qualifications or honesty of any user, coach, academy or organiser; the condition or authenticity of any item; or any indirect or consequential loss.
Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or ₹1,000.
Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded under Indian law.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights we will notify you in the app at least 30 days beforehand. Continuing to use SmashDrop after a change takes effect means you accept it; if you do not, close your account.
17. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Bengaluru have exclusive jurisdiction.
Before starting proceedings, please write to support@smashdrop.com — most things are quicker to resolve that way.
